VALUE SCOUT performed an extensive and systematic analysis
of a significant number of Practice Case Studies on the role of sports and
cultural practices for value building in formal curricular contexts (i.e. schools)
as well as in non-formal and informal extra-curricular settings (e.g. sport clubs,
theatres, associations, etc).
The analysis was based on the Integrated Methdology and the two dedicated instruments for data collection and analysis i.e. the Pre-Case Studies Identification Grid and the In-depth Case Studies Analysis Grid developed at the beginning of and validated throughout the life cycle of VALUE SCOUT. VALUE SCOUT first collected and analysed
150 Good Practice Case Studies (the so called pre-case
studies) providing an initial screening of the field of sports and culture and
their contribution to value building. In a second step detailed selection
criteria (i.e. geography; field i.e. sport, culture or
combination; area i.e. extra-, intra-curricular or combination; age;
problems/needs addressed; values addressed) were defined in order to extract the final good practice cases from the
larger pool of pre-case studies based on coverage criteria. The in-depth
data collection and analysis process was build upon a multi-angular and
multi-dimensional approach:

The
Case Study Collection & Analysis Report
summarises the entire VALUE SCOUT case study collection and analysis
process. It should be finally emphasised that final selection of case
studies is not intended to be representative, but should display a
significant
contribution to value building through sports and culture and to ensure
an
appropriate coverage amongst the identified selection criteria.

- Step 1: A desk research based content and report analysis;
- Step 2: Interviews (e.g. face-to-face; focus groups; telephone) with key stakeholders (i.e. programme or case managers);
- Step 3: Observation and study visits of the actual learning in practice.
